Huntington disease (HD) is a type of neurodegenerative disease that is characterized by presence of multiple repeats (more than 36) of cytosine-adenine-guanine (CAG) trinucleotides and mutated huntingtin (mHtt). This can further lead to oxidative stress, enhancement in level of ROS/RNS, mitochondrial dysfunction and neuroinflammations. Many clinical and preclinical trials have been conducted so far for the effective treatment of HD however, none of the drugs has shown complete relief. The regeneration of neurons is a very complicated process and associated with multiple pathological pathways. Hence, finding a unique solution using single drug that could act on multiple pathological pathways is really cumbersome. In the proposed hypothesis the use of demethyleneberberine (DMB) as a potential anti-HD agent has been explained. It is a metabolite of berberine and reported to act on multiple mechanistic pathways that are responsible for HD. Present article highlights new mechanistic insights through which DMB inhibits ROS/RNS, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunctions and neuroinflammation such as NFκB, TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8, cytokinin. Data have been collected by applying a choice experiment on a sample of 757 Italian beef purchasers. The sample was randomly split into two information treatments plus a control group. Participants in the information treatments were given an explanation about the functional meat production system. Results showed that the average consumer has a preference for ω-3 enrichment and that information about the food's production process increases this preference. Therefore, the study reveals the existence of a potentially profitable market for functional beef.The influence of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) at different pressure levels (0.1, 100, 200, and 300 MPa) combined with moisture regulators (MR) on the tenderness, water content, and quality of beef jerky was investigated. HHP treatment reduced the shear force (SF) of beef jerky (P 0.05) when the water activity was maintained at approximately 0.7. MR+HHP contributed to a shorter T21 value and a higher P21 value, which indicated an improvement in the water-binding ability of the beef muscle. Analysis of the microstructure showed that MR+HHP led to the fracture of the Z-line and destruction of the sarcomere structure. A total of 111 records were screened, after which 21 studies met criteria for inclusion. Studies were centred on students in Sweden and in 15 other countries. Students' ratings of 'Experience' were positive across five scale subdimensions with means 3.0-3.95 of a possible 5 (overall mean 75.4%). 'Satisfaction' across seven studies was rated highly (mean 4.16 of 5) 83.2% agreement. The highest rated subdimension was Supervisory relationship,perimental and observational study designs is needed to compare ways of preparing clinical teachers and reporting measurable learning outcomes for models of supervision that are applicable in varied clinical learning environments.The conversion of timber industry waste to biochar was investigated, based on residues from local tropical hardwoods in Cameroon. Closed and flow reactors, loaded with few grams of the sample and fluxed with different inert gases, were used with the aim of converting these wood residues to a safe and efficient solid fuel that can be exploited by the local community for cooking purposes. The pyrolysis temperature had the highest impact on the process up to approximately 700 °C as biochar yields decreased from 87 to 23.5% while increasing the temperature. A significant concentration of carbon required temperatures greater than 500 °C for the biochar to become a good solid fuel, approaching the heating value of coal. The role of heating rate appeared marginal even in a broad range 0.1 to 70 °C/min. The dwell time (in the range 0.5 to 5 h) at maximum temperature revealed to be of little influence on the charring which occurred mostly during the first few minutes of the isothermal phase. Thus, actual production time can be less then 1 h/batch (up to 500 °C at 10 °C/min). Stepwise heating revealed a sequence of devolatilization reactions following their activation energies. Use of CO2 as inert gas increased the char yield. The inert gas flow rate had two contrasting effects on the biochar yield, in relation to volatile components residence time and the biomass temperature. The reactivity of biochar in combustion suggests a trade-off between heating content and reactivity. Charring in a closed, pressurized reactor produced biochar of low value as fuel, with tars absorbed in the porous solid residue.Campylobacter spp., such as Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli, are important zoonotic Gram-negative pathogens that cause acute intestinal diseases in humans. The optrA gene, encoding an ATP-binding cassette F (ABC-F) protein that confers resistance to oxazolidinones and phenicols, has been found in C. coli in China. In this study, the optrA gene was first identified in C. jejuni collected from retail meat in China from 2013 to 2016. Nine strains, isolated from a pigeon meat sample, carry the optrA gene. The molecular characteristics of the optrA-positive strains were determined by whole genome sequencing. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, multilocus sequence typing, and single nucleotide polymorphism analyses demonstrated that the nine optrA-positive isolates were genetically homogeneous. Phylogenetic characteristics and sequence comparison revealed that optrA was located on a chromosome-borne multidrug resistance genomic island. The optrA gene along with the tet(O) gene formed two different translocatable units (TUs), thereby supporting the transmission of TU-associated resistance genes.
